I love how she almost drops it until she smells it and that flashbulb memory hits.
“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real … Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

This was the traffic sign that greeted Guests traveling to Disneyland that morning. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure never opened to Guests that day. Walt Disney World was already open and Guests were escorted out of the park as soon as they received news of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center Tower and another plane hitting the Pentagon.
I was actually at Disney World when this happened. We were on the bus from All Star Resort to Magic Kingdom when the order was given for all buses to turn back to the resorts. There were a few people who were crying on the bus who had relatives working in the WTC. The rest of the day, no one was aloud to go to the parks but almost everyone left to go home and the resort was deserted. Later on we found out that Disney World was actually one of the prime targets lower on the list due to it representing the extravagance of “the great Satan”.
